City water rates will increase again next year.
City treasurer Darlene O’Shea presented city council with a proposed 2019 utility operating budget last week.
The proposed increase works out to $2.79 a quarter or $11.16 for the year.
At the same time, the city is still in the process of trying to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid bills.
The current outstanding balance is around $748,000.
O’Shea pointed out the outstanding balances have nothing to do with the rate increase.
Th city’s proposed general operating budget will be presented tomorrow night at 6 pm.
