A 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from Rexton, N.B., have been arrested and charged with several offences, following the execution of a search warrant in Rexton.
On January 2, 2019, members of the Southeast District RCMP`s Crime Reduction Unit and the Richibucto Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on North Street. During the search, police seized restricted firearms and prohibited knives, a quantity of what are believed to be methamphetamine pills, as well as stolen property including an all-terrain vehicle and tools. The man and woman were arrested at the residence.
Thirty-three-year-old Malcolm Tyler Hannay and 35-year-old Zabrina Augustine appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on January 3 and were each charged with possession of restricted firearms and prohibited knives, possession of restricted firearms and prohibited knives knowing it is unauthorized, unsafe storage of a firearm and ammunition and prohibited knives, possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamines.
Both were remanded into custody and will return to court on January 4 for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
