A 30-year-old man from the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation is facing several charges in connection with a home invasion and aggravated assault that occurred in Lagacéville, N.B. last week.
On January 3, 2019, shortly before 1:30 a.m., members of the Neguac RCMP received a 911 call regarding a home invasion and robbery on Drisdelle Settlement Road.
A man broke into the home and a number of items were stolen. An altercation took place between the suspect and the homeowner, during which the homeowner was injured. He was transported to hospital.
The investigation led police to identify the suspect, who was determined to have been shot during the altercation. The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
Thirty-year-old Lee Alexander Mitchell has been charged with break and enter, robbery, aggravated assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and uttering threats, among other offences. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Miramichi Provincial Court on January 8 for a bail hearing.
